The Annual Gloversville Memorial Day Parade and Services planned by the Gloversville Recreation Commission will be held on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. with the parade starting at Sixth Avenue and North Main Street, heading east on Sixth Avenue to Kingsboro Avenue, then south on Kingsboro Avenue to Fulton Street and west on Fulton to the main entrance of Prospect Hill Cemetery. Following the parade there will be a memorial service and placement of wreaths that will take place at the Soldiers Monument in the cemetery. More information on the parade and line up can be found at cityofgloversvilleny.gov and following events and pages for the Gloversville Recreation Commission and the City of Gloversville, New York – City Hall on social media.

The Johnstown Memorial Day Parade was canceled this year. In the original cancelation notice posted on May 19th on the City of Johnstown, New York’s official government Facebook page the reason was cited as insufficient community involvement. The announcement begins “After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that the City of Johnstown will not be hosting our traditional Memorial Day parade, as the Parade Committee did not receive sufficient community participation”. The announcement goes on to encourage participation in Gloversville events “to honor and remember our fallen heroes”. In a press release on May 20th the following clarification about the parade was added “The Memorial Day Parade is organized by the Parade Committee, a group of volunteers. The Committee stated they faced challenges in securing sufficient participation to ensure the event’s success. The Parade Committee has now been abolished and moving forward the Tourism Committee will be organizing parades”. On May 21st a “Memorial Day Service – Honoring Our Heroes” was added and posted again on the City’s Facebook page and on May 22nd a full program was provided. The service will take place on Monday, May 26th at 12:00 p.m. at Sir William Johnstown Park, Charles Jenner Bandshell on West Main Street.
